2016 Spring Scholarship Show

Our June 2016 show “Showstoppers from Stage and Screen” features our 6 scholarship finalists — the purpose of the Chorale — 3 per show to showcase their budding talent. A must see, and an opportunity to tell your friends ‘I saw them when …’

The RB Chorale adds numbers by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart, Gershwin, and many more. Plus popular songs from Disney’s Frozen and Tangled movies, and smash Broadway musicals Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera,  Chicago, Man of La Mancha, and other favorites. Friday June 10, 7pm
Amber R. Schumann – Poway High School (Piano)
Amber plans to double major in Music, with an emphasis in Piano and Organ Performance and Statistics at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Her dream is to accompany the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and one day hopes to teach music. She also enjoys equestrian activities and photography.

 

Kailey J. Berry – Hilltop High School, Chula Vista (Vocal)
Kailey will attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and major in Vocal Performance with a minor in Italian. She has been involved in the San Diego Junior Theatre, performing in over 20 musicals, and has recently expanded to Classical Voice. Her dream is to attend Boston University’s elite Opera Institute.

 

Kristine L. Llanderal – Poway High School (Piano)
Kristine intends to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Conducting at the University of Redlands. In addition to studying piano, she enjoys singing with chorale groups, playing the clarinet and has been the Drum Major for the past two years in Poway High’s “Emerald Brigade Marching Band”.

 


Saturday June 11, 7pm

Rachel E. Dovsky – San Dieguito Academy, Encinitas (Vocal)
Rachel has been performing in musical theatre for ten years, and plans to attend Chapman University to double major in Music-Vocal Performance and Cognitive Science. She will perform at the International Lyric Academy of Rome & Viterbo this summer, and dreams using music in therapy for people with special needs.

 

Nicholas J. Hoo – Westview High School, San Diego (Saxophone)
Nick intends to combine his passion for music with his interest in business by attending San Diego State University to major in Music Entrepreneurship and Business. In addition to the sax, he plays the piano and sings. In his spare time he volunteers at four local retirement homes, bringing the joy of music to others.

 

Rachel Hsieh – Del Norte High School, San Diego (Piano) 
Rachel will attend UCLA, with a possible double-major in Piano Performance and International Relations. As a member of the San Diego Youth Symphony, she played the violin and her goal is to perform with a renowned orchestra. Ultimately she would like to teach music and inspire young students.
